700R4 Sun Shell (Replacement)

Sun Shell:

Here is a common failure point of the 700R4/4L60/4L60E automatic transmissions.  The shell breaks in one of two ways.  Don’t take a chance on reusing your old sun shell.  Replacing this shell with a new one is cheap insurance.   Don’t be fooled by what “looks” like a good used shell.

If the sun shell fails, the transmission will lose:

• Reverse.
• 2nd gear.
• 4th gear.
